Welcome to Day 2 in the build-up to the Launch of my New Book - "Becoming An Entrepreneur: Beginners Guide."
Instead of just bombarding folks to buy my stuff, I thought I'd take a different approach and just share with you my intimate journey and behind-the-scenes approach to producing this work.
Since we are getting closer and closer to the release of "Becoming an Entrepreneur: Beginners Guide," I would like to convey the motivation that lies behind this venture. This book is a summary of all I've learned to date on my journey in entrepreneurship.
It was written to educate you through the intricacies of beginning and building your business. It was specifically written for the vivid spirit of the Caribbean entrepreneur, but it is relevant to entrepreneurs everywhere.
Why This Book?
In the course of my journey as an entrepreneur, I have come across a variety of one-of-a-kind obstacles, particularly in the context of the Caribbean, ranging from limitations on resources to the dynamics of the market.
I have reflected on the times I lost money on unproven ideas, became indebted when I over-leveraged assets and contracts and the time I had to close my office and retrench staff because I scaled too fast and didn't plan on the business's sustainability.
The response I have come up with is this handbook, which is an all-encompassing and practical manual to help you plan for these challenges and capitalize on possibilities.
What this Book is About (And What It is not!)
This book provides strategic concepts that may be used at every stage of your journey as an entrepreneur, from the stage of ideation to the stage of scaling your business.
However, let's be unambiguous about what it is not. The information presented here is not a "how to" guide on registering a business, how to make more money, developing business and marketing plans, or building websites. There is no "technical hand-holding" in this book.
Neither is it a shortcut to success nor a solution that is universally applicable. Because of the many facets of entrepreneurship and the fact that it requires an individualized approach, this guide takes into account the reality of the situation in the Caribbean by presenting an approach to gaining entrepreneurial knowledge.
A Personal Mission
It was more than just an author's desire to write this book; it was also about cultivating a community of self-sufficient business owners. Ever since I can remember, I have always had a business idea that I believe would be worthwhile to pursue.
My greatest obstacle has been a lack of knowledge related to how to get resources to carry out the plan and how to grow and scale sustainably. This guide is intended to be a useful resource for your entrepreneurial pursuits, and I intend to accomplish this by not only sharing my thoughts but also sharing the wisdom that I have gained over my 22 years as an entrepreneur.
