3... 2... 1... It's Launch Time! - Behind the Scenes: “Becoming An Entrepreneur: Beginners Guide.”

We’re just a few hours away from launching my New Book, my first publication in 15 years and I cannot contain myself. I have many emotions building in me. In an earlier email, I shared about my biggest fear - The Fear of Failure, but today I am filled with excitement,  joy, and anxiety.

I’ve arrived at the launch destination after almost a year of planning and months of writing, editing, and self-publishing. Even as I count down the hours to midnight, when I officially put this work up for sale, I reflect on the motivation and intentions I’ve drawn upon.

My History as an Entrepreneur.

23 years ago, in July 2001, fresh out of college, I registered my first business, a small Architectural Drawing Office Firm, with my then-fiance. We were both green in business and lacked the knowledge to negotiate, manage, and even sell our services but we soldiered on with a part-time operation until her untimely passing in 2006.

Later that year, I ventured to run the firm as a full-time operation, and even though I grew the business and made lots of money, I still did not know how to run a business and eventually, after many bad hires and many bad projects ventures, I called it quits in 2012 and reserved my services to the odd consultancies. 

Since then to now, I have participated in several entrepreneurial ventures with many successes and equal measure not so successful. Then the global pandemic hit and I finally figured out what my purpose in life was. I wanted to learn and teach and teach about entrepreneurship and to help aspiring entrepreneurs launch and grow successful businesses. 

Having journeyed through many ventures, having experiential knowledge, and gaining academic insights and qualifications, I’ve decided to test myself. Writing this book “Becoming An Entrepreneur: Beginners Guide” is the translation of my entrepreneurial journey as an actionable textbook-like guide, which seeks to deliver strategic and basic knowledge steps.

See, if you’re like me, you’ve probably read many books, joined memberships, and heard many cliches but having a documented thought-guide map, guiding you through the considerations for each stage of business always eluded me. What I've sought to do in this guide, is to take everyday strategies we read or hear, and present the “why” of implementing them.

So having arrived at the launch destination tonight, I hope these Behind the Scenes Articles have been beneficial to letting you in on my thoughts and process behind writing this book. It is a personal ode to myself first and foremost. I wish I could go back 23 years and give myself this work.
